As a dedicated Gifted and Academically Talented College Preparatory Magnet School in Duval County, any upcoming 6th grade student from one of 84 different elementary schools is eligible to apply for the magent program. We also have limited seating for 7th and 8th grade students. Students are selected by the lottery system with preference given based on various factors such as sibling and military preference. The staff population consistists of 65 full-time instructors and 4 school-based administrators. Our student/teacher ratio is less than 20:1.

We apologize, but we may not be able to offer tours at other times due to scheduling problems and classroom interruptions.

On January 7, 2010 participants of the Amity Turkish Essay and Art Contest met along with their teacher at Florida State College South Campus to hear their names called out as winners of the "Alliance of Civilizations" art and essay contest. The contest aims to promote awareness, understanding, and positive interaction among different cultures and communities. The award night was entitled "Meet the Future Leaders of Jacksonville." The students were greeted by Sheriff Rutherford and the President of Florida State College.
James Weldon Johnson College Prep Middle School had two winners:

Both students earned monetary awards.
