James Weldon Johnson offers only advanced and gifted classes in the core academic subjects preparing students to excel in a rigorous high school program of study. Students also take physical education/health and one elective each year. Typically 7th and 8th graders may choose from a myriad of electives including world languages, art, band, TV production, computers, intensive reading and journalism. Johnson stresses a total-school experience for all students through participation in various extracurricular academic and athletic activities. Students enroll into our college preparatory programs through the district's lottery process. Parents and students who are interested in attending are asked to tour our school to learn more about our programs and have an application signed for priority processing. Once the tour and application are complete, the application must be returned on or before the deadline for lottery processing. You can access the applications and other forms online by clicking here. You can also apply online.
Please note: Only students who are not currently attending JWJ must complete the application and lottery process for enrollment. |
